The 15th Annual Event promises to be the biggest and best yet. From 1-5 p.m., May 2, 2010, at BonDeCroft Elementary School on Hwy 70, east of Sparta city limits, people from all across the nation will gather and explore the rich heritage and history of the community including mining photographs, memorabilia, slide show, auto tour, as well as additional information on the history of the school. Several history books will be available for purchase including: Mining on the Mountain: Life in the Coal Towns of White County Tennessee 1882-1936, and pictorial Mountain Coal; Black Gold 1886-1934.

]]> <![CDATA[Relay for Life]]> White County Relay for Life, the annual fundraiser for cancer research will be held at the White County Agricultural Complex on the fairgrounds, from 6 p.m., Friday, May 7, to 6 a.m., May 8. The all night traditional event hosts team competitions in efforts to collect money for this worthy cause. For more information call (931) 273-8470.
